Has George Lucas ever admitted that Frank Herbert’s Dune was an inspiration to Star Wars IV: A New Hope?

I was wondering when he did? Now he doesn’t admit that it was.

I”m sure anyone that is familiar with the two can see the similarities starring you in the face.

I’m a big fan of Dune and I don’t see anything that could be called an “inspiration” to anything in Star Wars … other than all the sand like the other person said.

As far as I know Lucas has NEVER said that Dune was any kind of inspiration for Star Wars and I seldom miss an interview with Lucas because it’s sometimes fun to see him trip over his tongue from time to time.

What is Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson about?

I am a freshmen in college and have so much things to do that I didn’t have a chance to read this book. I need to come up with 3 questions or comments but it has to be related to urban design/ dystopia.

Any good books to read?

Recently i have taken up reading as a hobby to kill time during working hours when i have nothing to do (I work the graveyard shift).

To give u an idea what i like to read…recent books i read are.

1.) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
2.) Marley and Me by John Grogan
3.) The Chronicle series (dragonlance) by Margaret Weis and
Tracy Hickman
4.) Final Note from a Great Island by Neil Humpreys
5.) The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

No romance, thrillers and horrors pls.. and i want novels not magazines or cookbooks or…etc…. u get the idea! Other than that, i’m open to suggestions
I’m willing to read classics like ulysses by james joyce and I,claudius by robert graves too.. the date of publish for the book does not matter

great expectations. some by Charles Dickens.
