Will I be able to access the internet on my laptop via the new Google Android G1 phone (unlike the iPhone)?

I want to be able to surf with my laptop via the G1 when not at home. I’m led to believe that Apple doesn’t allow this functionality on the iPhone, but I’m hopeful that Google/HTC/T-Mobile (UK) will let me on the G1.
